The private schools in the State minting money flouting Government guidelines would soon be brought to book and tamed.
State Minister for Schools and Higher Education Deepak Joshi while talking to The Pioneer said, “We are in the process of bringing in an ordinance to stop the private schools of the State from their arbitrary actions. The ordinance that is on the lines of MP Universities Regulation Act 1975, would bind these schools to follow State Government norms.”
Joshi further said that the biggest problem in coming up with the law to contain private schools was that the parents do not come out to register complaints against the schools. “But now the hassles have been cleared and the ordinance is ready and we are all set to implement it from the next academic session,” he added.
He said that the ordinance was in fact ready at the onset of the ongoing academic session but could not be implemented as preparations were need to be taken and that could not be done in a short span of time. It is expected that after the enactment of the law from the next session as said by the Minister, the private school operators in Madhya Pradesh that used to make merry due to a lack of provisions to control them would be tamed providing big relief to the parents.
An MP High Court order had in 2013 instructed the State Government to make strict laws to control the private schools but was not acted upon. The High Court sent a reminder this year and following that the State Government has formulated the law. Actually there is no firm law in the State to compel private schools to follow Government line and these schools take full advantage of the situation and do not pay any heed to follow the Government guidelines right from fees to admissions.
The major violation done by these schools is charging full year that means twelve months fee while charging admission fee every year. Whereas, as per Government guidelines the schools should charge ten months fee and admission fees should be charged only once. Though the school operators have their own reasons for their collections like payment of salaries to teachers and meeting other expenses.
