Orders regarding natural calamity compensation ridiculous, claims CPM

The Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPM) has alleged that the orders of the State Government regarding criterion of natural calamity compensation is ridiculous.

The party stated that this is height of insensitiveness and demanded its rollback by the BJP Government of the State and apology over it by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.

CPM State secretary Badal Saroj in a statement here on Friday informed that the criterion includes those farmers who have television in their homes, have two or more buffaloes (would be considered dairy industry) if farmer is pensioner, anyone of farmer’s family is in job be it in Surat or Andaman Nicobar islands, if he is tax payer (be it the professional tax deducted from the salary of peon), posses small shop, have some business or is priest of temple than he is not eligible for the compensation though he has lost all his might by the natural disaster.

Saroj added that the CPM condemns and opposes the Shivraj Singh Chouhan led BJP Government’s dictatorial order in this regard. Such orders mean that not a single farmer would get the compensation because those who fulfill these conditions are those who come under Below Poverty line (BPl) and hence there is no question of them having any land and there is no provision of compensation for those who works on other’s fields.

Saroj also said the State that’s most of the parts are facing drought for the third consecutive year, last crop was destroyed due to hailstorm and extreme rains, farmer’s suicides are increasing dangerously in that state this dictatorial order is extreme of insensitiveness. Chief Minister Chouhan who claims that he is a farmer’s son should immediately roll back this arbitrary order and should apologise from the people of state for issuing such dictatorial order, he added.
