The Opposition parties in the State including Congress and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) reacting over the Supreme Court judgment in the Vyapam scam on Monday hit at the BJP Government of the State and demanded Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s resignation.

Notably, the Supreme Court on Monday cancelled the admission of 634 students who got admission to the MBBS course in various medical colleges in Madhya Pradesh between 2008 and 2012 by illegal means. These students had cleared the entrance tests for medical colleges conducted by the Madhya Pradesh Vyavasayik Pareeksha Mandal (Vyapam) or Professional Examination Board. The Vyapam scam was referred to the CBI in July 2015 on the orders of the top court.

Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president Arun Yadav said that chief minister Chouhan should step down from his office after the apex court judgment. “I am of the view that these students were not copying but the Government, medical education mafia, brokers and corrupt officials of the Vyapam were providing them copying facility by taking huge sum of money from them, so the real culprit is Government and that is why the head of the Government should immediately resign after apex court verdict,” Yadav said.

Yadav mentioning an important link of the scam Dr UC Uprit’s statement under section 164 that we used to send Rs 10 crore immediately to who so ever used to assume the responsibility of medical education minister, the duration mentioned in today’s apex court judgment is that when the Chief Minister was holding the charge of medical education department. Hence, Chouhan should take moral responsibility it and should immediately resign from the office of Chief Minister, he added.

AAP Madhya Pradesh convener Alok Agarwal said, “The future of these 634 students has been ruined by the corruption of the Shivraj Singh Chouhan led Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Government of the State.”

Agarwal further said that strict action should be taken against the real culprits of the mega scam so that this corrupt system could be finished.  “The real culprits of the infamous Vyapam scam former minister laxmikant Sharma, Congress leader Sanjeev Saxena, Vyapam’s Piyush Tripathi and Nitin Mohindra, industrialist Sudhir Sharma and others are now out of jail,” he added.

He said that in this whole issue the AAP requests the apex court to instruct the central investigating agency to speed up its enquiry so that decision over real culprits could be taken and they should get strong punishment.
