The Opposition parties —  including the Congress, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Communist Party of India-Marxist-leninist (CPI-Ml) — have slammed Bharatiya Janata Party Government of the State on Tuesday for Mandsaur killings and demanded Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s resignation.

leader of Opposition in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly Ajay Singh in a statement said that firing on farmers by Government headed by the Chief Minister who boasts of being a farmer’s son is shameful for Chouhan. “The Chief Minister should immediately resign from office. The claims of Chouhan over making agriculture a profitable business have turned out to be false.” Singh said.

Singh further said that the CM who used to claim that not a single drop of tear would roll down from farmers’ eye under his rule is out to make farmers cry with tears of blood.

AAP State convener Alok Agarwal said that the BJP Government that was compelling farmers to commit suicide is now engaged in murder of farmers and the Chief Minister is ordering fire over farmers like General Dyer. Addressing media persons, Agarwal  said that Chouhan who claims to be farmer’s son has become murderer of farmers. Farmers are cane-charged in democracy for raising voice for their rights and are killed by police. The AAP condemned this barbaric action of the BJP Government, he added.

The CPI-Ml also condemned the killing of farmers in police firing. In a statemen,t State secretary of the CPI-Ml said that the suppressing attitude of the BJP Government in the State exposed its real face of being anti-farmer. The CPI-Ml strongly condemned this criminal act of the Chouhan-led BJP Government in the State. “We demand immediate action against the guilty and compensation of `50 lakh each for the kin of deceased farmers, he added.
