Online admission process for admission in under graduate and post graduate courses is going to start from May 21.
According to sources, Department of Higher Education (DHE) officers are gearing up for this year’s admission process as it is expected that number of applicants will increase significantly.
DHE Commissioner VS Niranjan said that the first year of the online admission process was a challenge as few believed that admission of lakhs of students can be carried out simultaneously successfully.
It is expected that around six lakh students will get themselves registered for admission.
Niranjan further said that the major changes being brought this year are including minority colleges in the admission process also.
In 2012-13, when for the first time admissions were carried through online process, few complaints were registered regarding the server problem and over charging by the kiosks and internet café operators. Measures are being taken to reduce such problems. He further said that this year comparatively the work will be easier as students and college staff has understood the whole process for admission.
According to admission guidelines, students have to get themselves registered and get their certificates verified from help centres between May 21 and June 20 for under graduate courses and for post graduate courses registration process and documents verification process will start on June 1 and will conclude on June 24.
Students who have to appear in compartment examination also need to register themselves in the online process, such students will be allotted seats in the last round of counseling if seats are left.
Students who have ATKT in graduation are also eligible to apply under condition they do not have ATKTs in more than four papers.
It is worth mentioning that last year over 25,000 students were admitted by private colleges through offline process later DHE and universities refused to authorize such admissions.
Due to which the number of applicants is going to increase this year. The minority colleges inclusion in the online admission process is still being considered by the department, added Niranjan.
