A Naxal was injured in a gun battle between ultras and police in the forest of Chhukkatola village in Balaghat district on Thursday, an official said.
“In an encounter with ultras in which around 200 rounds were fired, a rebel was injured this morning. But the naxalites didn’t leave him behind. They are carrying the injured with them,” Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Neeraj Soni told PTI.
The spot falls under Malanjkhand police station area, around 60 kms away from Balaghat district headquarters. “We are getting inputs from some time that a Military Dalam of Chhattisgarh has sneaked into our district. So we have ramped up security across the naxal-affected areas in our region,” the officer said. The encounter occurred when a police party including members of Hawk Force, the anti-naxal squad of Madhya Pradesh led by Balaghat Range IG DC Sagar and SP Gaurav Tiwari, was conducting a search operation in the area when they came under fire from naxals.
