Talaiya police arrested a thug who cheated through PhonePe by tempting to get Apple company's expensive mobile iPhone at cheap price and recovered laptop, an iPhone seized Rs 5000 cheated from the accused.
Complaint was lodged by Asina Ahmed of Kamla Park regarding cheating by providing a low price mobile phone by seeing the advertisement of GENEXT INTERNATIONAL PRIVATE LIMITED after chatting with unknown mobile holder on whatsapp and was duped to the tune of Rs 26,999 but neither did the complainant received mobile phone and found mobile was switched off of concerned person.
Based on the complaint in the investigation police narrowed the accused in Indore and traced the accused identified as Harsh Yadav of Indore. The accused was arrested and recovered a laptop, a mobile phone, two extra sims of the iPhone company and Rs 5000 from his possession.
In the technical analysis, it was found that the accused had cheated scores of people across different regions. Based on the complaint after the preliminary investigation, the police registered a case under section 420 of the IPC. Police said that when the victim tried to call, mobile numbers were found to be switched off and he later lodged a complaint. Later, in the investigation it was found that the accused had cheated several victims which are under investigation.
