Officials to re-appear in election examination conducted by ECI

Published on:

After failing to clear examinations, returning officers and assistant returning officers have to take a re-exam conducted by Election Commission for checking the capacity and efficiency of officers appointed for election duty.

Before the assembly elections, the Election Commission will check the eligibility of the returning officers and assistant returning officers appointed in all the assembly constituencies of the state.

For this, examination has been organized on Friday in all divisional headquarters. In this examination, questions will be asked on all the activities related to elections and it will be necessary to pass it. Officers who do not pass the examination can also be removed from election duty.

In such a situation, the problem for the concerned officials is that if they fail, they will face degrace among peers and will also have to undergo training again for election duty.

On the instructions of Chief Electoral Officer Anupam Rajan, preparations related to the examination of RO and ARO have been started in all the divisional headquarters.

For the elections to be held in 230 assembly constituencies of the state, one returning officer and one assistant returning officer have been appointed by the Collector and District Election Officers in every assembly.

The Chief Electoral Officer collects many election related information directly from these officers. The Election Commission is examining the understanding and working style of these officers regarding various activities undertaken during the assembly elections.

In this regard, it has been decided to conduct an examination at the divisional headquarters to check work efficiency and administrative efficiency.

The main topics identified for the examination to be conducted by the Commission include the preparation of voter lists and the process of adding and removing names.

Along with this, electronic voting machines, ballot paper, determination of polling stations, sweep activity, formula for voting of disabled people, counting of votes, deployment of staff at polling and counting centers and the state of security arrangements there, to be adopted in case of dispute. Questions will be asked regarding the theme.
