The Convener of ‘Madhya Pradesh Pichda Varg Sangatan’ (MPPVS) NP Patel, on Sunday, said that the population of Other Backward Classes (OBC) in MP is more than 60 per cent, yet there is no representation of OBC candidates in lok Sabha or Vidhan Sabha.

While talking to the mediapersons, Patel said that Rajya Sabha election will be held soon and the MPPVS requests BJP as well as Congress to select any OBC candidate from their list. If the parties does not heed to the demands then the MPPVS will call for a State wide campaign and join all the OBCs and contest in the election, he added.

Patel further said that under such conditions, a united front of all the OBCs will be formed which will include political and social unions, thinkers, writers, journalists, scientists, women, youth, businessmen, farmers and agricultural tenants and contest elections from loksabha to Gram Panchayat.

He further said that the State Government announced 27 per cent reservation for the OBC against which a petition was filed in the Court by the representatives of General Category and arguments from the side of the State government against the petition were also presented. But the decision came against the 27 per cent reservation which affected the complete OBC population. As the other schemes initiated by the State government were also not properly executed the OBCs are under great loss.

The Central Government has given 27 per cent reservation where as only 14 per cent is being given in the government jobs.

The demands of the MPPVS included simplifying the process of obtaining caste certificate, income certificate and domicile, allotment of land, house and shop to the people living below poverty line as per the reservation for OBCs, to pass the order to reserve 25 per cent positions in all the cooperative societies, president of apex banks and as in position of other office-bearers.
