NSUI workers enforce bandh in city colleges

National Students Union of India (NSUI) enforced bandh on colleges in the State capital on Wednesday in protest against the murder of its worker allegedly by the members of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) in Ratlam.

The NSUI had called State-wide bandh demanding that strict action should be taken against the culprits involved in the murder of the NSUI worker. During the bandh, the NSUI workers also staged demonstrations in front of many colleges including BHEl College, Ravindra College, BSS College, Anand Vihar College, DAV College, Naveen College, Benazir College, Hamidia College and Motilal Vigyan Mahavidyalaya (MVM).

NSUI members started assembling at the gates of these colleges early in the morning to prevent students and staff from entering college premises. Students who reached the college were turned back by the NSUI workers.

Students had to face hardship due to the action of NSUI because exams are currently in progress in all the colleges.

NSUI district president Virendra Mishra told that all the colleges including private as well as government colleges were closed by the NSUI workers on direction of the state executive. Memorandums were also submitted to the police officials to take strict action against the guilty. There were reports of NSUI workers creating ruckus while enforcing the bandh in Indore and Jabalpur.

Notably, the NSUI member Shahir Khan was murdered by alleged ABVP members in Ratlam on Monday.

Ratlam police has already arrested several persons associated with the ABVP in connection with the murder. ABVP has already protested against the arrests claiming that its members were being falsely implicated to malign the organisation.
