Ahead of parliamentary session as an initiative towards ‘Bharat Nirmaan’, National Students Union of India (NSUI) will organise a national-level programme ‘Students Stand Against Corruption’ (SSAC) and a signature movement will also be launched in educational institutions. Besides, Mahatma Gandhi’s death anniversary would also be observed as the day against corruption by youth and sit-in demonstration, hunger strike and other programmes will follow.
National vice-president and in-charge of NSUI Madhya Pradesh Bharat Kumar informed that the NSUI is determined to create awareness towards getting the six pending bills passed in the coming session of the Parliament which is a step towards combating the post-lokpal and Right to Information issues. While referring the statements of Rahul Gandhi that lokpal is not sufficient to combat corruption and the citizens need comprehensive anti-corruption arrangements for it, Kumar said that students gathered at Jantar mantar on December 30 had expressed gratitude towards Rahul Gandhi for passing the lokpal Bill.
NSUI will call students all over the country to join the drive which is focused on eradicating corruption and getting the anti-corruption bills passed, informed State secretary of NSUI Vipin Vankhede. In a joint statement issued by NSUI vice-president Harshit and others stated that the signature campaign will last for a week and every Member of Parliament will be made to sign commitment letter for the bill. All the MPs will be asked for it under the banner of SSAC and hopefully students’ community will welcome the initiative.
