NSUI supporters gherao Pawaiya's residence

Party workers of the National Students Union of India (NSUI) gheraoed the residence of Higher Education Minister Jaibhan Singh Pawaiya on Tuesday.

The NSUI workers were protesting against the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) convention, which would commence on December 24 in Indore.

While talking to ‘The Pioneer’ on Tuesday, NSUI’s State spokesperson Vivek Tripathi alleged that the State Government is violating the rules by permitting ABVP to use the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Govt Arts & Commerce College (GACC) college building and its hostel for the ABVP convention. The officials of the GACC have illegally sanctioned an amount of Rs 1.15 cr to the Indore Municipal Corporation for the preparation of the event of the ABVP. The Government has pressurized the officials of the college to sanction the money of the students to the municipal corporation.

Tripathi further alleged that NSUI condemns this kind of illegal act of the Government and warns the State Government stop spending the money of the students on the political events. NSUI would initiate the State level agitation if its demands remained unfulfilled. NSUI would not tolerate such incidents and would complain about this in the court.

Tripathi adds, “NSUI had gheraoed the residence of the Higher Education Minister Jaibhan Singh Pawaiya on Tuesday in order to protest against the ABVP’s national convention. The police officials have lathi –charged our workers and have arrested them under the pressure of the State Government. This is the ‘jungle-raaj’ policy of the BJP-led State Government. We would complaint about this act in human rights commission.”
