New and Renewable Energy (NRE) Department’s roof top solar power plant installation scheme will be launched sometime by mid-2016. The scheme would be implemented throughout the State.
However, since it is a costly affair, its success can not be ensured. The only lucrative offer provided by the department in this direction, but even then the scheme is costly.
The cost of per kilowatt electricity generation is Rs80,000 to Rs1 lakh on 150 squarer feet area of roof. In the total amount, the department would provide a subsidy of 30 per cent.
The process regarding floating tenders for Roof top solar power plant scheme is almost complete. The policy related to the scheme has been decided by the New and Renewable energy Department. It will be sent for approval at the State cabinet soon.
Once an approval is obtained the installation part will start Statewide. The owner of the roof could be any citizen or organisation, can install it on rooftop and generate energy for his/its personal purpose and the excess amount of energy generated can be given back to Madhya Pradesh State Electricity Board (MPSEB).
The energy produced will be calculated as ‘Net Metering’ billing. The tariff for the payment of the output will be decided by the MPEB and paid to the owners. This can be in a way considered their saving account.
“This whole programme is believed to be ready by mid 2016,” said Publicity officer of the NRE department OP Sharma.
Sharma further said that as per government 15 per cent of energy requirement must be met by renewable energy and our requirement is 10000 Mega watts out of which 1500 watts is the share of the renewable energy which can be easily met by this scheme.
