Now it's official, Nagar is in the BJP

The dispute between the BJP and the Congress over the allegiance of newly-elected Bhopal district panchayat president Manmohan Nagar took a dramatic turn on Friday too.

He is now officially in the BJP camp, having accepted the membership of the party, on Friday.

On Thursday, after his election, Nagar was ‘forcibly’ taken in a car by BJP workers to the State BJP headquarters, where he garlanded the busts of the late BJP leaders and said he could be considered as belonging to the BJP or the Congress.

later, within minutes, the Congress leaders reached at the main gate of BJP office and when Nagar was about to leave, and he was forcibly taken in a vehicle to the State Congress headquarters. Reaching the PCC office, Nagar told mediapersons that he was in the Congress party for decades. He also alleged that BJP MlA Rameshwar Sharma had bashed him up and threatened his life.

On Friday evening, dramatically, Nagar reached the BJP office again and formally accepted the membership of the party. There, while talking to media persons, Nagar said that he had joined the party after meeting Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Thursday morning, but the Congress leaders, including former MlA PC Sharma, bullied him.

He also said that when he was talking to the media at the PCC office on Thursday, he was not mentally stable. “I was forced by Congress leaders to give such statement. I have joined the BJP by having been impressed by the ideology of the party,” he added.

Notably, at the PCC office on Thursday, PC Sharma had alleged that whatever the action was taken by the BJP leaders came under the purview of crime and they would on Friday approach the police requesting registration of an FIR against the BJP leaders.

However, witnessing the political developments right from the morning on Friday, the Congress leaders preferred to keep quiet.
