The Madhya Pradesh High Court (Indore bench) here on Tuesday slapped a notice on Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in connection with his promises made by him during an election campaign of BJP candidate and currently BJP national general secretary Kailash Vijaywargiya, summoning him in the court on February 17 and seeking a clarification from him in connection with his electoral announcements.

The notice was issued by a bench of justice Alok Verma of the High Court while hearing a petition of senior Congress leader and former Minister Antar Singh Durbar against Kailash Vijaywargiya.

According to Vibhore Khandelwal, counsel of Durbar, the latter had filed a petition in the High Court against BJP MlA from Mhow Kailash Vijaywargiya, accusing him of luring voters through unscrupulous means. To substantiate his charges against Vijaywargiya, Durbar had submitted a CD of election rally of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.

According to the CD, Chouhan, addressing an election rally of Kailash Vijaywargiya on November 20, 2013 at Shankar laxman Ground in Mhow seeking votes for Vijaywargiya, had announced about running Metro train in Mhow and giving land to the poor farmers on patta.

During his election speech, Vijaywargiya was present on the dais.

During the course of hearing, the counsel of Durbar today also submitted an election manifesto of the BJP, stating that the Chief Minister in order to seek votes for Vijaywargiya had made false promises to the voters of Mhow as the BJP manifesto had no mention about the Chief Minister's announcements which he had made in Mhow.

Taking cognizance of the pleas of the petitioner's counsel, the bench of Justice Alok Verma today served notice on the Chief Minister, summoning him in the High Court on February 17  to present his point of views in the case.
