No steep change in temp likely, cold wave to continue: Met

Published on:

Despite cold winds which led to a decline in both day and night temperatures in past two days, the day temperature on Wednesday was witnessed a higher trend. The State capital recorded 26.8 degree Celsius, which was 2 degree Celsius above normal.

The citizens shivered with cold wave conditions in the early morning hours, but later in the afternoon, the sun rays increased the temperature, providing relief to the people. The temperature difference between day and night temperatures would decrease, weathermen claimed. On Wednesday the temperature changed with respect to the normal temperature recorded was not significant.

The Met officials told that any steep change in the temperature is not likely to occur and the weather conditions in the State capital would follow the same pattern on Thursday. Cyclonic circulation over Gujarat and Western Madhya Pradesh would produce clouding on Thursday which might bring a slight change in the day temperature and increase in the day temperature would be witnessed. On Wednesday the day temperature which was recorded around 26.8 degree Celsius would remain in the range of 25-26 degree Celsius on Thursday.

The system would not bring down the night temperature and would be recorded in the range of 11-12 degree Celsius. The wind direction is also not helping in pulling down the temperatures as the current wind direction is southerly due to which the temperatures are not dipping further. After the wind direction would change Northerly the intensity of the cold weather would increase further.

The city would witness haziness on Thursday morning, added the official. Among the major cities Gwalior recorded the lowest night temperature at 6.1 degree Celsius while the day temperature was recorded at 22.4 degree Celsius.

Naugoan and Datia were the coldest places in the State capital and recorded a night temperature of 4 degree Celsius.
