Barkatullah University (BU) will not conduct special Allowed To Keep Term (ATKT) examinations for the backlog students. BU administration on Tuesday cleared that special examinations will not be organized.
Department of Higher Education (DHE) issued an order in which it was said that if universities want then they can organise special examination for the backlog students of all the six semesters of under graduate courses and of all the four semesters of post graduate courses.
This order was issued by DHE for the welfare of those students who are not being able to graduate due to ATKT in one or two subject.
Also, the special examination would help the universities in finishing the semester system based on old examination pattern.
DHE Commissioner VK Niranjan said that a large number of students are not able to complete their graduation due to ATKT in one subject.
Many students are on the verge of loosing more than one academic year that is why DHE has issued notice for organising special examinations.
Deputy Registrar Confidential VK Singh said that university administration had already organised special examination for the fourth and sixth semester students in September 2012.
BU was the only university then to organise special examination for the backlog students.
Singh further said that last time when DHE asked to organise a special examination it was not clarified that the special examination was not only for final semester it was meant for all the semesters.
So the university conducted examination for only sixth semester students.
University has already conducted first, third and fifth semester ATKT examinations and second, fourth and sixth semester examinations will be organised in next two months therefore special examinations are not required.
University administrations decision will adversely affect those students who did not passed in the ATKT examinations organised this year. A large number of students were depending on special ATKT examinations.
