The police headquarters on Saturday came out with a clarification regarding media naming two Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) functionaries in the infamous MP Professional Examination Board (MPPEB) scam.
In a statement issued by the police, it was claimed that whatever documents and computer hard disk are available with the Special Task Force (STF) do not have any such information regarding RSS leaders.
The statement further said that whatever news is being covered by the print and electronic media in this regard is baseless and untrue. It was also mentioned that former RSS chief Sudershan had died in Raipur on September 15, 2012, while the examination for Weights and Measurement Inspectors was held on October 7, 2012. The results for this examination were out on October 18, 2012.
Notably, the police had on Friday also clarified that the STF is not in possession of the call records showing that several calls were made from the Chief Minister's residence in connection with the scam, as published in a section of media.
Political observers feel that it is for the first time that the police has come out to safeguard somebody by issuing clarifications. Otherwise, reply to political allegations comes from the political party only. However, the BJP leaders are not taking any interest in safeguarding the Government or the Chief Minister.
Regarding the allegations leveled by the leader of the Opposition in the State Assembly, Satyadev Katare, the State Government has already filed a defamation suit in a district court.
