Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that the quality of construction works should not be compromised in any way. A new mechanism should be developed for quality control, which should be transparent and capable of prompt action.
Chouhan gave these instructions in the review meeting of Public Works Department. Public Works Minister Gopal Bhargava, Minister of State Suresh Dhakad, Chief Secretary Iqbal Singh Bains and departmental officers were present.
The Chief Minister said that along with the construction of new roads, the roads passing through urban areas should be maintained at the earliest. He said that for quality control of roads, sample selection and quality testing should be done through geo-tagging technology.
Chouhan said that a detailed database should be prepared of all such roads, which are required to be maintained in the next one to two years. He said that the proposals of local MLAs should be included on priority in the selection of new roads. Senior officers of the department should visit the area and upload their inspection report on the department's portal.
This portal should be linked to the CM Dashboard, so that he himself will be able to know about the work progress of any officer incidentally.
Chouhan directed that the annual calendar of all projects worth more than 100 crores should be prepared and completed within the time-limit. He said that strict action should be taken against such contractors who take tenders at a rate less than the CSR rate, who do low quality work or leave the work.
Chief Minister Chouhan said that Atal Pragati Path is a very ambitious project of the state. In this, the land acquisition process should be done expeditiously. The state government has proposed to give double the land to the farmer brothers on the basis of their consent.
Possession on the allotted land should be given to the farmers who have accepted this scheme. Chouhan said that RRDA, Central Road Fund, RDC joint action plan should be prepared for the construction of connectivity roads of rural areas less than 10 km in length.
