AICC general secretary in-charge of Odisha BK Hariprasad on Wednesday made it clear that there would be no change of guard in the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) despite the debacle the party suffered in the just-concluded UlB polls in western Odisha.

“Winning and losing is part of democracy. I (myself) am responsible for the poll debacle in western Odisha. However, I have asked the PCC president to give a detailed report on this so that we can assess what went wrong,” Hariprasad told mediapersons here, expressing hope that the party would perform well in the 2014 general elections. Asked about some senior leaders openly attacking the party leadership in the media, he termed it as indiscipline and said he would look into the issue.

Replying to a question about some Congress leaders planning to join expelled Soumya Ranjan Patnaik’s party Ama Odisha, Hariprasad asserted that nobody from the Congress would join Patnaik’s outfit. Hariprasad held a review meeting with PCC office-bearers, including president Jayadev Jena and leader of Opposition in the Assembly Bhupinder Singh, on the party’s dismal show in the municipal polls and a broad strategy for the 2014 general elections.

Hariprasad too attended the meetings of the Pradesh Congress Coordination Committee and Congress legislature Party. AICC secretary Subhankar Sarakar was also present.
