Responding to queries over the Bharatiya Janata Party’s repeated attacks on him over his alleged involvement in anti-Sikh riots of 1984, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath here claimed there was no FIR, case or charge-sheet against him in the matter.

While talking to media persons here on Monday, Chief Minister Kamal Nath said, “I had taken oath in 1991 as well and I remained the Delhi in charge in the past but the issue wasn’t raked up then and you all know well why all this is happening now.”

To a query whether he was ready for a probe as there were several eyewitnesses who have claimed of spotting him outside the Gurdwara during riots, Nath laughed off the question ‘ye appko kaha hai (Have they told you this).”

Briefing the media about decisions taken after assuming office on Monday, Nath said the first file he cleared was of farm loan waiver which was a standing promise of the Congress party. He also came down heavily on banks saying they easily waive off 50 per cent to 60 per cent loans of the industrials and they have problems doing the same for farmers.

He also lashed at the economists who are claiming that loan waiver impact economies claiming have these people worked in farm ever.

“They simply deliver lectures, nothing else.”

Saying the UPA in the past had waived off farm loans of defaulters, Nath said his government would write off loans of defaulters and current debtors as well.

Among other decisions, the CM Kamal Nath approved provisions of Rs 51,000 cash offered as monetary assistance under Kanya Vivah Yojana.

“I have issued orders to ensure extension of benefits of investment incentives to outside manufacturers, only if they offer 70 per cent jobs to the local youths. At times it happens, manufactures set up units in MP but outsiders run away with the jobs generated in these units,” he added.

Besides, the new Chief Minister announced establishment of four Garment Parks in MP which according to him would also have measures to promote generation of support jobs apart from the main business activities to generate extra jobs.

“We need to create economic activities in Madhya Pradesh.”
