Under the innovative Solar Rooftop RESCO programme of Madhya Pradesh, National Law Institute University (NLIU) located in Bhopal would be getting solar power at the first year rate of Rs 1.76 per unit. This is one of the leading National Law Universities in the country. The rate of Rs 1.76 can be compared to Rs 7.40 per unit at which NLIU is presently getting its power.

Thus, the discovered rate is less than one fourth of the present rate.

The rate would increase by 3 per annum and would thus double to Rs 3.57 at the end of project life of 25 years, which would still be less than half of the present DISCOM rate.

The RfP for Rooftop Solar at NLIU, Bhopal, as also other buildings of Central Government organizations, has been won by M/s AMP Solar, New Delhi.

Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) between NLIU and AMP Solar was signed in the presence of  V Vijayakumar, Director, NLIU, Manu Srivastava, Principal Secretary, New and Renewable Energy Department, Govt. of MP, Giribala Singh, Registrar, NLIU, S Deshmukh, Superintending Engineer, MP Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd ,Bhopal and Prakash Rai, Director, AMP Solar, New Delhi.

Rooftop Solar Project in NLIU would be implemented in the coming few months at no capital cost to the institute. Further, NLIU would get substantial savings in the electricity bill.

This initiative has been launched by New and Renewable Energy Department of Government of MP throughout the state in large number of institutions.

The RESCO model facilitates the beneficiary consumer to enjoy solar power with zero upfront investment and at rates much below the prevailing DISCOM rates.

The beneficiary consumer pays for the electricity as it is generated by the selected contractor, who undertakes design, supply and installation, along with comprehensive Operation and Maintenance for 25 years.
