NHDC gets 525 MW project

Published on:

A 525 MW Pumped Storage Power Project has been allotted by New and Renewable Energy Department, Government of Madhya Pradesh to NHDC.

This Pumped Storage Power Project will be constructed using the existing reservoirs (Indira Sagar and Omkareshwar) of Indira Sagar Project.

Keeping in view the increasing peak hour demand of the state, a 525 MW Pumped Storage Project will be constructed by NHDC near Indira Sagar. Due to increasing renewable energy through this pumped storage project, the energy needs of the state can be met during peak hours (morning and evening). Through this pumped storage project, 1226.93 million units will be generated in peak hours. The estimated cost of this project will be Rs 4,200 crore.

At present two power stations of NHDC Limited, Indira Sagar Power Station (1000 MW) and Omkareshwar Power Station (520 MW) are in operation in Khandwa district of the state. At present 100 percent power produced from here is supplied to Madhya Pradesh.

NHDC is now determined to make the state a green state by producing green energy through the construction of solar power projects under new and renewable energy production.
