It was the time when grandma’s and grandpa’s of the city revived their fun filled days in their second innings.
On Saturday a youth led NGO Ansh Happiness Society organized a special programme called ‘Second Innings’ at Gandhi Bhavan. As many as 150 senior citizens of the city with much enthusiasm participated in the event.
The senior citizens showcased their wondrous talent. They participated in events like open mic, poetry session, karaoke, ghazals and dance and music too.
The event became more blissful when a 60-year-old performed ‘aye meri zohrajabeen’ on stage and all the audiences went gaga over him. The fun did not end here, but began when the ‘harmonica group’ presented their scintillating performance on stage.
Talking about the grand event coordinator of the programme, Rashi Wadhvani told The Pioneer, “This event is basically for those who are in the second innings of their life.”
She further adds, “They all have lived one part of their life struggling and of course working hard for their families and loved ones. Now this is the time when they need to revive their colourful life once again. The event Second Innings is an initiative by Ansh Happiness Society to let them enjoy and laugh a loud and forget about their pain to enjoy to the fullest.” There were sports activities also organized for the senior citizens including Table Tennis, Carrom and Badminton. Former National Player of Table Tennis Shankar Rao also participated in the event.
This was not all but the audience enjoyed the time when Yashodha, sister of Harishankar Parsai performed ‘Dilruba’ song on stage.
