Regarding the low conviction rate and related issues, Singh said, “I will have elaborate discussions on various issues and endeavour to bring a qualitative change in totality vis-a-vis combating crime and better treatment of the public.”
To a query about sensitisation of personnel, he pointed out that it is a continuous process and denied prevalence of communal tension in the State. In the context of spiralling human trafficking, Singh said the problem was not an isolated one and being confronted by all developing countries but should be dealt with firmly.
Providing information on priorities Singh said that priority would be to put an end to incidents of crime but if any incident occurs in the state the investigation would be done at a speedy pace leading to arrest and convictions of culprits.
Replying on the question of increased number of crimes in the state Singh said if we look numbers it would look enlarged but the part of the serious crimes in the whole figure is very less and those increased numbers are due to the
reporting of minor offences which are registered by the police without hesitation and are recorded to curb and control crime. He evaded questions on MPPEB examination scam, implementation of Police Commissioner System and Police Act.
