New State BJP chief to continue work with Tomar's team

The new president of Madhya Pradesh Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Nandkumar Singh Chouhan is likely to continue with most of the office-bearers who worked with previous president Narendra Singh Tomar.

The tenure of Chouhan is likely to be for one and a half year only, as only this much time in the tenure of Tomar was left. Party sources close to Chouhan said that most of the old faces are likely to be repeated in the new team of the office-bearers in Madhya Pradesh. Only a few faces if necessary would be changed.

The party is short of time as after two months, organisational elections are to be held and later in the same month the urban bodies’ elections are scheduled. At the same time, panchayat and cooperative polls would be held. In such a situation, massive change in the executive body is not likely.

At present, five posts are already vacant, as five office-beaters have been appointed as ministers in the State cabinet. Sources claim that young leaders would be given importance in selecting new facers on these vacant posts.

Since, Chouhan has been working in the organisation for long and well acquainted with the field working of the party workers, he would not face any problem in selecting new faces, sources added.

It is expected that Chouhan would assume office in the last week of the current month after meeting with party’s national president Amit Shah. By then, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan would also return from his foreign tour.
