New-age environment-friendly technologies introduced

Hindustan Power Projects Private ltd has introduced new age environment friendly technologies to ensure zero discharge from its Anuppur Thermal plant.

While talking to The Pioneer Jogesh Mahato, Project Head said, “From start to end we have focused on environment friendly practices while constructing the plant. Today the team has planted more 81,600 plants in Anuppur; this would not have been possible without the support of the local administration and the people of the area.”

Mahato further said, “The hydro testing is one of the most critical landmarks towards commissioning of a thermal power plant as it is the test of pressurising the boiler to 1.5 times its design pressure. The plant has achieved critical milestone in terms of land acquisition, coal and water linkage, securing various statutory and other clearances ahead of schedule.”

He said considering the agrarian culture prevalent in the Anuppur area, the thermal arm has used advanced electrostatic precipitator (ESP) technology at a cost of Rs400 crore. This highly efficient filtration device removes fine particles, like dust and smoke, from a flowing gas using the force of an induced electrostatic charge minimally impeding the flow of gases through the unit. In addition, high concentration slurry disposal has been adopted for the Ash disposal, making the 1200 MW thermal in Anuppur to adopt this technology for the first time in the State, he added.

Bedsides the company under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is indulged in various works for the welfare of the locals including setting up of a school, operating mobile hospital and helping farmers with modern methods of cultivation.
