The young IPS officer Gaurav Tiwari whose transfer from Katni amid probe of Hawala case has stirred Statewide agitations says that he never encountered political pressure during service.

His transfer from Katni at the height of ongoing probe into the multi-crore 'hawala' scam has stirred up a hornet's nest but recently appointed Chhindwara Superintendent of Police Gaurav Tiwari says he is alien to political pressure of any kind.

Tiwari who assumed the charge of the district Superintendent of Police two days back while talking to newsman here on Tuesday said, “In my four year long service, I have never been subjected to political duress. My transfer to Katni was a part of routine procedure, if it has been carried out under any influence, only senior officers would be able to tell.”

The 2010 batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer had initiated investigation into the alleged ‘hawala’ scam wherein black money to the tune of crores was allegedly converted into white through a private bank. In the midst of the probe,  Tiwari who had served for merely a few months in Katni was transferred to Chhindwara.

Suspecting that the transfer was carried out under pressure, the common public has been staging protests since the past 10 days. “I am grateful to people for their support. It has boosted my morale,” he said.

Speaking about the 'hawala' scam, Tiwari said that he had registered four first information reports (FIRs) in the connection. Further investigation would be carried out by the new SP Shashikant Shukla.
