Second phase of National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) took place in the Bhopal under heavy security on Sunday. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) conducted test was the chance for aspirants who could not appear in NEET-I held in May.
Sources said that around 7,000 candidates appeared for the test in 18 centres in the State capital on Sunday. Some of the candidates were those who opted to take the entrance exam for the second time. NEET entrance is held for some 58,000 MBBS across India. There are around 2,000 MBBS seats up for grabs across Madhya Pradesh, in some 14 medical colleges. The entrance is also for aspirants in Dental under graduate courses.
Notably, the NEET-I, held on May 1, was not a smooth affair, with many students getting into arguments and fights with security personnel over the vaguely worded dress-code and late entry in exam halls.
Taking note of such complaints at centres, NEET-II was conducted and it was far smoother with students, parents and officials all better prepared.
Wallets, goggles, handbags, hairpins, hair bands, belts, shoes and wristwatches are not allowed inside the exam halls, like other examination process adopted by the CBSE.
Supreme Court has directed to implement NEET from academic year 2016-17 instead of All India Pre Medical test (AIPMT). Union government proposed to hold the examination in two phases. Joint result may be announced on August 17. According to proposed schedule by Centre and CBSE admission procedure will be completed by September 30.
