For the first time since its inception in 2009, Nanaji Deshmukh Veterinary Science University (NDVSU) on Friday administered an oath to the graduating class of the Bachelor of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry (B.V.Sc & A.H.) degree programme.

The oath ceremony, held at the College of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry in Jabalpur, was attended by a total of 212 students, including 74 from Jabalpur and Mhow campuses, and 64 from the Rewa campus.

The taking of the oath marks the formal induction of the students into the veterinary profession. The milestone symbolizes their dedication to animal welfare, public health, and ethical veterinary practices.

The event was chaired by Lakhan Patel, State Minister of Animal Husbandry and Dairy of Madhya Pradesh, as the chief guest. Honourable guests included Shri Jabalpur parliamentarian Ashish Dubey and MLA Ashok Rohani, who were prominent among those attending the event.

Dr Umesh Chandra Sharma, President of the Indian Veterinary Council (VCI), attended as a special guest. The programme was organised under the leadership of Dr Mandeep Sharma, Vice-Chancellor of NDVSU, who played a key role in the success of the event.

The ceremony began with a Saraswati Vandana, followed by speeches from the distinguished guests. Minister Patel encouraged students to become self-reliant, while the Deans of the three affiliated colleges presented their annual reports.

The top students in the B.V.Sc & A.H. degree, Deepti Kushwaha, Nivedita Dwivedi, and Tina Agarwal, were awarded provisional degrees by the guests. The university also launched the Livestock Almanac and distributed books and manuals to students.

The event also featured a campus recruitment drive, organised by the university’s placement cell in collaboration with Dr Asit Jain.

Five organisations provided employment opportunities for students. The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks from Dr SS Tomar, Registrar, and recognition of the core committee’s contributions.
