Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) Bhubaneswar district president Antaryami Das alias Ganesh on Thursday alleged that his name has been deleted intentionally by the election officers at the instance of ruling BJD in order to stop him from contesting the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections scheduled on January 8.
Das said he has been casting vote till the last BMC polls, but this year his name has been deleted without any reason. Except his name, the names of all his family members are in the voters’ list of booth-510 under ward-52.
“As I’m a winning candidate from the NCP, the BJD hatched a conspiracy to delete my name from the voters’ list so that I can’t contest in the polls,” said Das. He said the deletion of his name is illegal according to law. The conspiracy against him is violation of his fundamental rights. “The BJD Government should stop killing democracy in broad daylight,” said Das, adding, “It is not a single case; many more are also suffering from such problem.”
He demanded that the Government to include his name before the elections and take stringent action against the officers and leaders who deleted his name. “If the State doesn’t take any action in the case, I will go to the High Court to get justice,” said Das.
