A national woman hockey player drowned at Kaliasot dam after she fell in on Sunday. She had gone there for picnic with family.
According to the Kamla Nagar police, Mona Sonware, while on a picnic with her family fell into the dam. On duty divers rescued her and she was rushed to hospital where she was declared brought dead.
After the preliminary investigation, the body was sent for the postmortem. The police have registered a case under section 174 of the CrPC and have started further investigation.
Meanwhile, a 32-year-old married woman committed suicide by hanging with the ceiling at Ambedkar Nagar under Kamla Nagar police station area on Sunday. Rajni Umre was found hanging at her residence and was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead, said police.
