The national seminar on the topic ‘Gender Representation in Media’ was organized here at Ambedkar University on Friday. In the beginning a documentary Sapno ki Udan was shown to the audience in which various works completed and undertaken by Ambedkar University at national level and state level were shown to the audience.

After the lightening of the ceremonial lamp, Vice Chancellor of the university Prof Asha Shukla told that rape against women is very shameful and heinous crime. She told that Nirbhaya is not getting justice but it is the punishment which is given to the accused. Nirbhaya will get the justice on the day when crimes like rape will completely come to an end in our society.

The reforms and preventive work for women safety starts when any incidents like rape occur and then the topic starts what the Police Media Judiciary is doing.

This type of incidents should not occur and our family and society should survive in healthy social atmosphere and for this gender sensitization course should be included in the foundation course of the syllabus of universities and I have requested to the governor Honourable Shri Lalji Tandon for which he agreed and hopefully this gender sensitization course will be started in all the universities of MP.

Vice Chancellor Asha Shukla also told that the women should be given equal right in society and this is only possible when the discrimination between male and female should be abolished.

The team of speakers who highlighted various aspects and dimensions of this topic included Jayant Mishra UN (ODC), Neeru Mishra, DK Verma, Kishore John, journalists Vikas Tyagi and Prakash Hindustani, Prateek Shrivastava, Amit Mandloi, Dev Kumar Vasudevan, Dinesh Solanki Educationists Supriya Pathak, Vinita Bhatnagar, Manisha Saxena, Jamna Mishra, Kusum Tripathi, Rashmi Jain, Sabana and Manoj Gupta.
