Taking a strong note of the assault on the two on duty women doctors in Indore, the district administration late evening on Thursday slapped four of the accused with National Security Act (NSA). The administration also sent them to Rewa central jail.

On Thursday seven accused of attacking the women doctors were arrested by the police.

The administration in a late evening order slapped four of them –Mustafa Ismail, Majid, Md Gulrez and Md Soyab with National Security Act late evening and sent them to Rewa central jail. Half a dozen more arrests were made in the case on Friday. The police administration also announced reward of Rs 1,000 each to three policemen involved in these arrests.

However, following intervention of religious heads, the locals of Taatpatti Bakhal area apologised to the administration on Thursday evening and promised to extend support to the health staffers.

The religious heads had briefed the locals about the threat of this disease and importance of medical examinations. Two female doctors accompanied by some para medical staff and police had reached the area on Wednesday to screen some contacts of a local corona patient who had died.  Driven by some baseless rumours of health staff taking away locals on the pretext of check-ups, some locals turned furious and started chasing the visitors and also pelted them with stones.

The brazen attack on physicians had caused national furore. DGP Vivek Jauhri also visited the city on Friday boosting the morale of the policemen and also paid a visit to Taatpatti Bakhal area.

Meanwhile, undeterred by the assault,  health department continued with the health examinations and carried out check-up in Khajrana area on Friday. Ten members of Tablighi Jamaat from Chennai were screened in  area.
