The students of Patel Group of Institutions (PGOI) enhanced their technological skills by observing the National Science Week at college premises.
The National Science Week began here from Wednesday at Patel College and students participated in science competition with a lot of enthusiasm. Notably, the National Science Week is organised to observe National Science Day which is observed all over India with great enthusiasm on February 28.
The National Science Week was inaugurated by Director Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Professor Vinod Singh. He was present as the chief guest on the occasion. Further while addressing the students and faculty members on the occasion, Gyanedra Singh, Director of Patel Group of Institutions gave information about the National Science Day.
He informed that the National Science Day is observed across the country every year in order to commemorate the invention of the Raman Effect in India by the Indian physicist, Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman on the same day in the year 1928.
For his great success in the field of science in India, Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman was awarded and honored with the Nobel Prize in the Physics in the year 1930. The event was then followed up with a popular lecture by Director, IISER Professor Vinod Singh. Singh delivered a lecture on ‘Fostering Scientific lecture’ to the students and to the faculty members.
He said that scientific temper is a way of life a social process of thinking and acting which uses a scientific method. Scientific temper describes an attitude which involves the application of logic.
Discussion, argument and analysis are vital parts of scientific temper. Elements of fairness, equality and democracy are built into it. While addressing the students he asked them not to waste the resources and use them wisely. He also urged them to be sincere and punctual towards their work. Further, the students of Patel College displayed few working models prepared by them. Models like Green House Controller, Automatic Street light, Home Auto-mobilization, laser Best Home Security System and many more that were appreciated by the guests and other students.
