The Indian Psychiatric Society, the largest independent body of psychiatrists in the country, is all set to organise its 68thAnnual National Conference - ANCIPS 2016 - in Bhopal. The conference will take place from January 21 to 24 at the People's World.

This is the first time in the history of the society that the conference is being held in Bhopal and is expected to see the participation of over 3,000 members of the medical fraternity from across the country.

While talking to media persons, Dr (Brig) MSVK Raju– Organising Chairman and Dr Viabhav Dubey- Organising Secretary of ANCIPS 2016 said the four-day conference will witness eminent speakers, stalwarts and research scholars presenting their views and sharing their knowledge on various aspects of behavioural sciences.

Mental health conditions are classified as common mental illnesses (such as depression and anxiety), severe mental illnesses (such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder), substance use disorders (such as alcohol use disorder) and childhood mental health disorders.

Dr Raju said, “While the awareness about mental health issues has increased , India continues to be at the top of the list when it comes to number of suicides in the South-East Asian Region. We are confident that the largest gathering of psychiatrists in India would help in coming up with the most recent progressions in the field of mental healthcare in the country and determine the ways in which the medical fraternity can help raise large-scale awareness about its prevalence, associated social stigmas and the need to treat such ailments in a holistic manner.”
