Former chief minister and MPCC chief Kamal Nath raked up a controversy after claiming that he possesses a CD related to honeytrap scam exposed during his tenure.
Nath while addressing a virtual press briefing himself raked up contentious honeytrap scandal exposed during his tenure in office saying the original CD of the scandal was brought to him being the Chief Minister and was later submitted in the court by police officers.
“People in the media have it, others have it, so do I,” said Nath. He, however clarified that he doesn’t indulge in such politics and personally hates political vendetta. He said this while replying to a question on police lodging FIR against senior MLA Umang Singhar which the Congress party has dubbed as political vendetta.
No charge is proven on Umang Singhar, so this action (FIR) is not justified, added the Chhindwara MLA who also met Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan to oppose action on his party MLA.
Notably, honeytrap scandal was busted by police in mid-2019 when a gang of women was arrested by police which allegedly got major Government contracts and extorted money from scores of politicians, contractors and top bureaucrats. As the women are behind bars, the enquiry into the honeytrap scandal haven’t reached anywhere till now.
The initial reluctance, whole Congress party has thrown weight behind the beleaguered MLA, calling the action as political vendetta. BJP was quick to read between the lines and hit back at Kamal Nath for his ‘veiled’ threat.
“Weather Kama Nath had run the Government for 15 months on the basis of blackmailing,” Medical Education minister Vishwas Sarang retorted on Nath’s remarks.
I am shocked to know that a former CM is saying that he has some evidences which he could use for blackmailing, said Sarang. Saying that blackmailing is an offence, the minister said that Nath is required to clarify his statement.
