Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that ‘Namami Devi Narmade’ Seva yatra is the biggest Jan Abhiyan of the country to conserve environment. He was addressing the Jan-Sanvad Programme on the 14th day of seva yatra at Ghansore of district Seoni on Saturday.
Chouhan said that this is not a political yatra but it is related to the social concern. He mentioned that Narmada flow decreases in summer. Since Narmada is not originated from the glacier but it is originated from the trees of Vindhyachal and Satpura, hence plantation is necessary on both the banks of the river to increase Narmada water level.
CM Chouhan said that plantation will be undertaken at forest and revenue land. A sum of `20 thousand per hectare as compensation will be given to the farmers for three years to undertake plantation on their private land. Also remuneration under the MNREGA will be paid to the farmers beside 40 percent subsidy.
CM Chouhan urged the people to make the Narmada River clean and pious and not to go for defecation on Narmada banks, not to dispose off dead bodies and not to immerse chemical based idols in the river.
Union Minister of State for Health Faggan Singh Kulaste, Minister of State for Family Welfare and Public Health and Minister in charge of Seoni district Sharad Jain, MP Bodhsingh Bhagat, Chairman Gou-Sanvardhan Board Swami Akhileshwaranand and Swami Pragyanand were present in the Jan-Sanvad programme.
