Inspecting the cleanliness effort in several parts of the state capital, Municipal Commissioner Harendra Narayan on Monday told officials to maintain constant communication with sanitation supervisors and quickly respond to problems being faced by them.
Narayan was speaking to officials via video conferencing after reviewing civic conditions in public places at Link Road Number 03, Nehru Nagar Square, Bhadbhada Bridge, Neelbad, Raatibad, Jhagariya Khurd, and Suraj Nagar.
He directed that immediate waste collection be ensured from main roads and green areas, and that haphazard shrubbery and weeds be cleared from green areas and other places without delay.
He also instructed all Assistant Health Officers to keep their designated areas clean and organised, ensuring central verges are well-maintained. If any shortcomings are noticed in horticultural work, officers were advised to coordinate with the Horticulture Department to get the necessary work done.
Additionally, action was directed against those spreading filth and defacing property, with spot fines to be imposed. Banners, posters, and illegal hoardings on roads, public places, and dividers are to be removed immediately.
Narayan stressed the need for constant communication between officials and sanitation supervisors to ensure the cleanliness tasks are handled in a time-efficient manner. He also emphasised the importance of organising meetings with sanitation workers and maintaining dialogue with them during their work.
Ahead of the sanitation survey and the fast-approaching Global Investors Summit, BMC top brass is closely monitoring the sanitation effort in the city to ensure the prompt collection of waste from all main roads and green belts.
