Mystery behind fraud case

Published on:

A case of fraud running into several lakhs has been lodged by one Subash Pillai of Subash Enterprises of Govindpura against another, Manoj Pandey, of Arera Colony, at Ratibad police station.  The police have questioned Manoj.

SHO Sandhya Mishra was not able to provide the details of the matter and said that CSP TT Nagar RD Bhardwaj was investigating the case. However, Bhardwaj was not available for comment.

According to information available, Manoj Pandey was constructing two wearhouses in Ratibad and Subash Pillai who used to deal in construction materials provided them with the required materials. Pillai later borrowed money from Manoj’s father and as security had given cheques for the amount, it is said.

A few days ago Manoj’s father died. It was stated that Manoj demanded return of money from Pillai but the latter refused to pay and claimed that he had already paid the money to his father and lodged the complaint against Manoj.

Manoj was asked by police to bring his mother for recording her statements to which Manoj objected as she was bed-ridden for months and recording her statements would not help in the matter.

Manoj claimed that the cheques are proof that Pillai had not returned the money. If Pillai has returned the money he would have collected the cheques from his father after returning the money.

Manoj happens to be a relative of Governor of West Bengal Kesarinath Tripathi.
