The dance and theatre enthusiasts of the city were mesmerised with the musical performances staged at Shaheed Bhavan Auditorium on Monday.
It was the grand closure of the 4th National Dance Festival ‘Nritya Angan’. The three day dance fest was organised by Kalandhika Nritya Natya Sanstha, Bhopal.
The event had a poetic conclusion with the dance drama on the poems by Atal Bihari Vajpayi. The dance drama was impressively staged by the artists of Kalandhika Nritya Natya Sanstha and was beautifully directed and choreographed by a renowned kathak dancer Rakhi Dubey.
‘Aao Maan Ki Gaathien Kholien’ the poetic presentation was all about the poems by Atal Bihari Vajpayi that highlighted about his life. It was a poetic collage of 10 poems thattold about the personality and the life of Atal Bihari Vajpayi.
The play began with introducing the protagonist of the play ‘Atal’. His character was beautifully portrayed by Bablu Dahiya. He enters with reciting the poem ‘Main Sochne lagta Hoon’. The play was adorned with the live music composed and presented by Shridhar Nagraj.
The play portrayed about Atal Bihari Vajpayi’s love for village life and simplicity. It focused on his vision of a successful society. The poems like ‘Geet Gata Hoon and Maut se Than Gayi’ were also a part of the dance drama. According to the director Rakhi Dubey, “This was the first time when a poetic collage on the poems by Atal Bihari Vajpayi was presented.”
After the poetic performance the Bhopalites were enthralled with the Kathak dance and Sattariya Dance of Orrisa.
Kathak dance was beautifully performed by Mansi Saxena from Patiyala. She presented the Jaipur Gharana’s kathak dance.
The event concluded with the performance by Meernanda Barthakur.
