A Hindi play, ‘Mujhe Amrita Chahiye,’ was staged here on Sunday at Shaheed Bhawan.Written by Yogesh Tripathi, the play was directed by a noted playwright of the city Satish Mehta. The play was wonderfully presented by Prayog Theatre Group, Bhopal.

The play narrates the story of a young girl Vijaya. This girl Vijaya is a simple and a kind-hearted girl. She lives with her dreams and wants to fulfil them. She dreams about her future and just like every girl she has untold aspirations and has developed those tender feelings in herself with which every girl lives. The situations in her life ask her to enter the theatre industry. As she begins doing theatres she realizes that life is too far and too practical that she has ever thought.

This change in her life makes her strong and frees her from the selfish bounds of the worldly pleasures. She frees herself from the senseless barriers of the society and also she allows the audience to think about these senseless bounds of the society. Interestingly, this play is of a different genre where a play is staged in a play. The audiences were taken to another sphere of talent as the play moves on, they realize that actually a play is being staged in the play. It was an enthralling experience for the audiences.

‘Mujhe Amrita Chahiye’ not only has featured the thought process and lifestyle of theatre actors but also is a tale about a family which tries to cope up with the modern society. This family tries to deal with the upcoming challenges that every new change brings to them. With the sensible use of stagecraft, and matured acting skills of the artists the play was worth watching. Moreover, the lights that were given by Kamal Jain added more zest in the mood of the scenes. The music was soothing. The audience enjoyed the show whole-heartedly.
