MPYC threatens hunger strike in front of State Assembly from today

Reiterating a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry into the multi-crore Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board scam, Madhya Pradesh Yuva Congress on Tuesday threatened to observe hunger strike before the State Assembly from January 8 to press for their demand.

While talking to mediapersons, Youth Congress president Kunal Choudhary told, “The Youth Congress had already staged state-wide dharna and demonstrated over a CBI investigation on December 24 into the MPPEB scam to the tune of Rs 10,000 crore. But our demand remained unheard. The Special Task Force, conducting the investigation, fails to arrest big fishes such as former minister laxmikant Sharma and mining baron Sudhir Sharma.”

Demanding to dissolve the MPPEB with immediate effect, Choudhary said that it is unfortunate that the declared amount was not recovered till date. He also demanded to provide compensation of Rs 25 lakh to each kin of the students who committed suicide and return the candidates' entry fees of Rs 1 lakh each along with compensation.

The YC leader also flayed the State regime for its policy on opening of foreign liquor shops in rural areas. “The liquor policy is nothing but betraying with the common man. The Government had a hand-in-glove with the liquor mafias and a blanket ban should be slapped on selling of liquor in the State,” he pointed out.

Choudhary alleged that permission was given through ‘back door’ to open as many as 2,300 new liquor shops and said that the YC would launch a statewide agitation soon demanding to ban on selling of liquor and the Government's ‘anti-people policies’.
