Former Madhya Pradesh Waqf Board (MPWB) chairman and member of advisory board of Mutawalli (chief trustee) of Auqaf-e-Shahi, Gufran e Azam has said, “The MPWB does neither have any authority to appoint Mutawalli nor does it have any power to question the Mutawalli that how the appointment was made.”
While talking to mediapersons on behalf of Mutawalli Saba Sultan, Azam said that the only role of the MPWB is to recognise the appointment and Saba Sultan had already been recognised by the MPWB. During the ongoing media war between the Auqaf-e-Shahi (royal endowment trust) and the MPWB, it was turn of Auqaf e Shahi to address media in the State capital on Wednesday. Notably, the MPWB has sent a notice to Saba recently asking as how she became Mutawalli and who made her Mutawalli.
Azam said, “The chairman of the MPWB should have checked records of his own board before sending this notice and should also read the Waqf act, as it seems that he does not have any knowledge of the act, else he would not have done this nonsense.”Replying to query of scribes over another member of the advisory board and chairman of the Reliable group Sikandar Hafiz Khan’s statement last days over Bhopal rubats, Azam was all praise for Khan and said that he is doing good job and that too by making his own expenses.
“It has become a trend in Bhopal to pull legs of those who work honestly, Khan has become target of the group that do nothing good on its own and creates hurdles in the ways of those who do good work,” Azam added.
