MPPEB scam: Cong renews CBI probe demand

Published on:

launching a fresh offensive in the multi-layered Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board (MPPEB) scam, the State Congress unit on Saturday alleged that the Special Task Force (STF) probe is being influenced by the State Government and renewed the demand for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe.

While talking to mediapersons on Saturday, Madhya Pradesh Congress Chief Spokesperson KK Mishra told that Raghvendra Singh Tomar, an accused in the scam, is associated to a top politician in the State. He has turned into Government witness.

likewise, a fake candidate in the Forest Guards Recruitment examination, Mukesh Rai, was arrested from Chhatarpur five days ago, but has not been booked as the excel sheet with the STF clearly mentions his appointment was made on the recommendation of the State’s Finance Minister Jayant Malaiya’s wife Sudha Malaiya.

Mishra raised several questions on the manner in which investigation is being conducted by the STF pointing out that several accused such as Gulab Singh Kirar and Ajay Shankar Mehta were not being arrested.

He alleged that the STF has seized only a few crores so far while the scam is to the tune of hundreds of crores. He claimed that this was a part of the strategy to weaken the case. Mishra charged the STF for being generous to the then MPPEB chairman Ranjana Choudhary though jailed MPPEB officials Pankaj Trivedi and Nitin Mahindra, who have claimed in their statements that she took Rs70 lakh.
