MPHRC takes cognizance

Madhya Pradesh Human Rights Commission (MPHRC) has taken cognizance over the issue of ants eating dead body of an infant in Indore district hospital. The Commission has sought report from the Dean of MGM Medical College Indore, Collector Indore, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Indore and Indore Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO) of Indore over the issue.

The doctors of the Indore District Hospital kept on passing the responsibility over one another for postmortem of the infant who died after some injection was administered to her on Monday morning at 5 am, while the ants continued to eat the dead body of the infant kept in the mortuary of the district hospital.

The requests of the parents of the infant to do postmortem were also overlooked by the doctors. It was when the relatives of the infant created ruckus in the hospital and the things started going out of control of the hospital administration than the dead body of the infant was sent to MY hospital at 1 pm where the postmortem of that was done at 5 pm.

The Commission taking cognizance of the news of the issue published with picture in the newspapers issued notice to the Dean MGM Medical College Indore, Collector Indore, SSP Indore and Indore CMHO and sought their report over the issue.
