The Madhya Pradesh Human Rights Commission (MPHRC) on Wednesday sought detailed report from the DG (Jails) regarding the lathi-charge on the prisoners of the central jail, Bhopal.
Commission has taken cognizance of the incident in which the prisoners of the jail were lathi-charged.
Notably, after the incident of jail-break, the prisoners were not allowed to have anything from the outside but some prisoners anyhow had managed to get the things from outside. The prisoners had gone on a hunger strike and were protesting regarding this. The jail administration had allegedly cane-charged the protesting prisoners. However, jail administration has refuted that the prisoners were lathi-charged in the Bhopal central jail.
Meanwhile, in another incident, Commission has recommended on Tuesday that a compensation of C`50,000 should be provided to the family of the deceased, who had died due to the treatment of a quack in Samardha village of the Dindori district.
Notably, Gayaram Baiga’s son Ratan Baiga (8-year-old) had died due to the treatment of a quack in the Samardha village of Dindori district.
Commission has stated in its recommendation that the Government should provide the compensation of `50,000 to the father of the deceased, Gayaram Baiga under section 18 (1) of the Human Rights Preservation Act 1993 as the deceased’s right to live was violated in this incident.
