Madhya Pradesh Council for Vocational Education and Training (MPCVET) exam was held online for the first time in the country on Thursday.

As pilot project, Madhya Pradesh has been entrusted responsibility to hold online exam by Director General Training, Government of India.

In other States of the country these exams are being held through conventional method.

On the first day of the online exam today, 7782 students appeared in the first shift and 8300 in the second at 87 exam centres. By the time of end of exam, candidates learnt about marks secured by them. The unsuccessful students to be given opportunity of supplementary exam 15 days later.

Earlier, ITI semester exams have been held online successfully in 4 phases in Madhya Pradesh. Total 22,678 candidates attempted exam on February 15, 2015, 19,929 in July 2015, 11,931 in August 2015 and 35,250 in January 2016.

Before February 2015, MPCVET exam was held through conventional method. Due to it every semester exam and evaluation consumed much time and resources.

The process that took 4 months earlier is being completed in 2 days. Quick and credible digital system has been evolved for evaluation. This is reduced possibility of human errors in checking of answer sheets. Expenses on transport and carbon footprint have reduced since paper prints of question papers and answer sheets are not maintained.

Major impact of online exam is that students know their results soon after end of exam online. Results of entire semester exams are declared two days after end of exam.
