Targeting Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Government in the State for the indecent speech of Tribal Welfare Minister Vijay Shah, Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) has demanded his immediate resignation.
The PCC functionaries also submitted a memorandum in this regard with Governor Ram Naresh Yadav.
MPCC President Kantilal Bhuria said in a statement issued on Monday that Shah has behaved indecently in many public programs even earlier which is not only against the dignity of a minister, but also derogatory of the honour of women.
“The double-meaning remarks by Shah in Jhabua during a Government programme and in presence of tribal girls, women teachers and a woman Collector are contrary to the high authority of a constitutional position which he holds. Although he has shown such behavior earlier, in Jhabua he crossed all limits,” Bhuria stated.
leader of Opposition Ajay Singh also criticized Vijay Shah for his statement. Singh also used the opportunity to target Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan for his alleged inability to wield any control over his council of ministers.
“The Chief Minister has lost control of not only the Government and administration but also over his ministers. This is the reason that anarchy prevails here,” Singh stated.
“The Chief Minister’s claim that his Government respects women has been exposed by his own minister. Even the newly appointed vice-president of BJP Prabhat Jha has shown the reality of his party by passing indecent remarks against the only woman President of India. If the Chief Minister really respects women he should immediately remove the minister,” Singh demanded.
He further said that Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan tries to become a messiah of women and the farmers of the State from time to time on the basis of hollow promises.
“But his false promises are exposed by his own ministers,” Singh remarked.
MPCC Media Department In-charge Manak Agarwal submitted a memorandum to Governor Ram Naresh Yadav on Monday morning
demanding that Tribal Welfare minister Vijay Shah should be immediately removed for his repeated anti-women behaviour.
Manak alleged before the Governor that Shah has become habitual of passing indecent and double-meaning remarks against women in public programmes.
In the memorandum, MPCC has alleged that a minister is expected to maintain seriousness and restraint in his public as well as private life.
However, the conduct of Shah is completely lacking in this regard due to which the dignity of the constitutional office which he holds is
repeatedly compromised.
