University officers will prepare strategy for their demands and protests in a meeting on Sunday.Madhya Pradesh University Officers Union (MPUOU) Convener B Bharti said that a meeting of university officers would be held in State capital, in which over 40 university officers from all over the State will participate.
Bharti further said that the major issues to be discussed in the meeting will be posting of Deputy Collectors in the university as Registrar, deputation of teachers on university officers posts, departmental Promotion Committee (DPC), timescale promotion and pay and perks to the university officers.
Bharti explained about the demands that State Government can only transfer deputy collectors in only those departments where they have specific posts sanctioned for them and in Madhya Pradesh no such posts in the universities are reserved, so the officers union demands rolling back of the order. He further said that even deputation of professors on administrative posts is not allowed and there is no provision for such transfers in the state university act. Strangely, DPC meeting for promotion of university officers has not been organized by state government in last seven years, while according to rules it should be organised at-least once a year. University officers are waiting for last seven years for promotion.
He also said that university officers are going to demand increasing posts for university officers’ cadre in other universities like technical university, Hindi university also.
Bharti further said that university officers cadre was formed by the state government only to provide dedicated services to the universities, for which even the eligibility criteria had been kept above the other state administrative services cadre officers, while a person need to be a graduate only to become deputy collector but to become a university officer a person requires post graduation with atleast 55 per cent marks.
On the basis of decisions made in the meet5ing further strategy of protest and demands will be formed, added Bharti.
